Second Training Workshop on Business and Human Rights

Last month, from 17th to 19th July 2019, the Office of the High Commissioner on Human Rights Advisor in Rwanda (OHCHR) and the National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) collaborated with the Danish Institute for Human Rights (DIHR) to conducte a second Training Workshop on Business and Human Rights.

With the eventual aim to initiate the draft law on business and human rights, the main objective of this second training workshop was to increase the knowledge and skills in business and Human Rights, among the NCHR as well as other relevant governmental institutions.

Taking place in Rubavu, Western Province, it brought together 38 participants - members and staff of the National Commission (NCHR) and legal officers from relevant governmental institutions. Participants also included staff of Civil Society Organizations, which were selected by the NCHR.

The facilitators were Ms. Rose Wangui Kimotho, a Legal Experts from the Danish Institute for Human Rights based in Nairobi, Kenya and Mr. Robert Kotchani, Country Director of OHCHR Uganda.
